Slovenian Independence Day! 🇸🇮
Hey there! This week will just be a bunch of jumble thoughts.
The unexpected, can’t plan for kind of week. This week was just one of those weeks, where a lot of things happen differently than expected. The first thing is about my eyes! I have been wearing contact lenses for many years now, but recently my eyes have said no more. They have been heavily irritated recently, so I have been taking eye drops and wearing glasses much more than I ever had. I like to wear contacts more, so hopefully I can in the future!

Yesterday, Thursday June 25th, was a day of incredible highs and incredible lows. It was Slovenian’s 35th Independence Day. In the morning, the streets were deathly quiet… it was beautiful!! We had the most beautiful hike and lunch at Šmarna Gora near Ljubljana. The day was hot but absolutely perfect. Petra and I had jota with ham inside it was the most delicious thing I have eaten in weeks. The food at the top of Šmarna Gora is always the best 🤤 The low at night was a reminder to not always speed through everything and to always be alert. Regardless, I am thankful for everything.

Something I think about often is the idea of 3 choices: 1) yes, 2) no, and 3) don’t decide. It’s always a reminder that not doing anything is also making a decision. Many people hesitate on decisions, procrastinate on things, but there indecision on yes or no creates a decision itself. There was an Alabama Wide Receiver named Jerry Jeudy, and he wrote a Instagram caption that I won’t forget, he said: “I never lose, I either win, or I learn”, and I always loved that. Every error is a way to grow and everyday we get better! Keep fighting and keep learning!!

I almost completely forgot! This week I took picture for a magazine here in Slovenia called Reporter SI the magazine will come out on Monday. The photographer, Primož, was so nice and friendly. I really enjoyed speaking with him, and meeting another amazing Slovenian person!! Cheers to you Primož! I had a moment when I was taking a picture where I felt like I wasn’t even there. I was so incredibly humbled to be in that moment, and it was just another reminder to be thankful for everything 😊
